Apr 8, 2016 #2 Wolfe_11B XS400 Guru Top Contributor 1,207 57 48 Cleveland, OH Looks good, but looks aside- Get some cans on the exhaust and filters on the carbs. You are loosing performance (and that's the point of a cafe racer, to make more power!). Put the forks back to where they should be.

The plan is to lighten it up, add much improved more modern suspension, brakes, and rubber, alter geometry to suit, and end up with a narrow, agile, moderately powered thing that also looks good. Here are some pics of my 79' xs400 cafe project. There is alot i am changing with this bike. Dont worry bars are on the top of the list (going to install some clip on's). And yes the seat is a fab'd steel pan. The gas tank is a 77' xs360. The bike has been converted to a single mikuni vm34 round slide. Plans to completely change the whole image.
